How to replace the upper control arm ball joint on a 2WD (Z85, ZQ8) on 2008 Chevrolet Colorado?

Raise the 2wd vehicle by placing support stands beneath it to access the upper Control Arm Ball Joint. Lower the vehicle and put a stand underneath the lower Control Arm assembly before taking off the tire unit. First disconnect the front brake hose from the upper Control Arm before removing the bolt securing the wheel speed sensor brackets and taking off those brackets. Free the upper Ball Joint by taking out its nut and using the Ball Joint separator (J-42188-B) to detach it from the Steering Knuckle. Unbolt the upper Control Arm from its Ball Joint nuts and bolts and pull out the Ball Joint. You should put the new Ball Joint into the top Control Arm and put back the identical bolts. After installment bolt the nuts to a torque setting of 16 n.m (12 lb ft). Fit the Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle and tighten a fresh nut on the upper Ball Joint up to 100 n.m (74 lb ft). Tightly install the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt using a torque of 20 n.m (15 lb ft). Switch the brake hose to the upper Control Arm, release the lower Control Arm support, put back the tire and wheel assembly, lower the car, and check wheel alignment as the last step.
