Begin by raising the vehicle when replacing the rear Brake Backing Plate. Begin by taking out the left then right park brake cables according to the instructions for the left side (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side) and right side (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side). Start by removing the Wheel Cylinder (Wheel Cylinder Replacement) followed by the rear Axle Shaft (Rear Axle Shaft Replacement). Take out the backing plate mounting bolts before removing the backing plate. Install the new backing plate onto the rear axle housing after placing it correctly then bolt the backing plate mounting bolts while ensuring a 135 n.m (100 lb ft) torque. Install the backing plate retaining bolts next. Begin Wheel Cylinder installation (Wheel Cylinder Replacement) followed by both park brake cables starting with the left (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side) and moving on to the right side (Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side).
