2008 Chevrolet Corvette Pushrod Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the pushrod and valve rocker arm on 2008 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: The replacement of valve rocker arms together with push rods begins by removing the valve Rocker Arm covers. The valve rocker arms and valve pushrods and pivot support must be placed in a rack to preserve their defined locations. Begin by unbolting the valve Rocker Arm bolts and then remove the valve rocker arms together with the valve Rocker Arm pivot support. The pushrods should be removed last. Thoroughly clean all valve rocker arms before inspecting them together with the Pushrod system. Engine oil should be used for lubricating the valve rocker arms and pushrods during reinstallation before installing the flange of the valve Rocker Arm bolts. The valve Rocker Arm pivot support goes in next while ensuring the pushrods land appropriately within the valve lifter sockets. Then you can install pushrods that fit properly into the ends of rocker arms before leaving the Rocker Arm bolts loose. Next install all rocker arms followed by their corresponding bolts. To begin set the number one Piston at top dead center compression stroke position while inspecting the cylinder number one rocker arms to confirm they are beyond their lift point and the Crankshaft sprocket key faces the 1:30 mark with alignment marks directly at 12 o'clock. Tighten the exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 2, 7, 8 to a torque of 30 n.m (22 lb ft) then the intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 1, 3, 4, 5 to the same torque. After rotating the Crankshaft 360 degrees the mechanic should torque exhaust valve Rocker Arm bolts 3, 4, 5 and 6 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft) followed by tightening intake valve Rocker Arm bolts 2, 6, 7, 8 to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). After complete the installation process with the valve Rocker Arm covers.
