  • Q: How to replace the intake manifold on 2008 Chevrolet Malibu?
    A: The replacement of an Intake Manifold requires initial disconnection of both the air cleaner outlet duct and the radiator inlet hose. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors which control the throttle actuator control (TAC), generator Starter, fuel injector wiring harness operatio move the vacuum brake booster hose clamp into position first then remove the vacuum brake booster hose. Begin by taking off the Throttle Body and disconnecting the map sensor and evap canister purge tube. Start by removing the Fuel Rail then the oil level indicator tube and finally torque the generator Starter bolts and the 3-phase voltage cable bracket bolt at the oil level indicator tube. After securing the generator Starter remove the lower bolts and upper bolt and nuts from the Intake Manifold to extract it and check the gasket for any sign of damage. Use a new Intake Manifold Gasket if needed during installation before placing the Intake Manifold in position and tightening the upper bolt and nuts followed by the lower bolts torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Position the Starter/generator along its correct bolt sequence and tighten all bolts to 58 n.m (43 lb ft). Secure the 3-phase voltage cable bracket with its bolt to the oil level indicator tube before installing both the Fuel Rail and oil level indicator tube. Before connecting the evap canister purge tube to the Intake Manifold and the evap solenoid, install and connect the map sensor. Reinstall the Throttle Body and connect the vacuum brake booster hose while tightening the hose clamp. Connect the engine wiring harness clips following sequence as the sheet states while reconnecting the fuel injector wiring harness connector and generator Starter connectors according to their order. Give priority to placing back the radiator inlet hose and the air cleaner outlet duct among the last steps.
