It is important to turn OFF the ignition and remove the key before changing the front side door lock striker to avoid SIR deployment and personal injury. A grease pencil should be used to mark the striker which will be used as installation reference. Then all bolts and the striker must be removed including the striker plastic trim. Start installation by putting the striker plastic trim in its position before installing the striker with its bolts in a loose manner. Position the striker according to the originally marked points before using hand power to snug the bolts. It is necessary to examine the door closing and adjust the striker properly by following fastener guidelines. Always end this process by securing the striker bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
