The process to replace shock absorber and spring assembly begins with supporting the vehicle while lifting it along with tire and wheel removal. Due to its design rear wheel drive vehicles require the detachment of shock absorber lower mounting bolts. All wheel drive vehicles need the shock yoke removed from the front position. Prevent the ball stud from rotating during maintenance by using hand tools to stop rotation and maintaining upper Control Arm-steel knuckle connection during retaining nut removal. When uninstalling the upper Control Arm-to-steering knuckle nut it is essential to use a hex-head tool to keep the ball stud from moving. The j-24319-b puller enables the removal of the upper Control Arm from the Steering Knuckle after removing the upper Control Arm to Steering Knuckle nut. Begin by lowering the vehicle then disconnect both front shock absorber assembly upper mounting bolts to finally extract the foundation shock absorber assembly. The necessary steps for front spring and related components service must always be followed. After placing the front shock absorber assembly inside the vehicle, top bolts must be fastened to 112 nm (83 lb ft). Next lift the vehicle while you install the upper Control Arm to the Steering Knuckle then apply the retaining nut and secure it with 60 nm (44 lb ft) torque. Rear wheel drive vehicles require installation of the shock absorber lower mounting bolts which should be bolted to 25 nm (18 lb ft). All wheel drive vehicles require installation of the shock absorber to the shock absorber yoke. Afterward lower the vehicle while reinstalling both tire and wheel.
