After removing the transfer case flange bolts from propeller shaft CV Joint install a flat-bladed tool into the transfer case flange notch before moving the shaft toward the front of the vehicle to separate it from the flange. Detect rotational freedom between the CV Joint and propeller shaft tube and search for grease leaks and CV Joint damage and binding or seal problems while checking the shaft condition; any damage requires new installation of the front propeller shaft. Secure the installation by fitting the braided end of the propeller shaft CV Joint into the transfer case flange then connect the propeller shaft to both the transfer case flange and the differential flange. Inspect and replace any damaged or worn propeller shaft-to-flange bolts before applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the bolts which needs curing time for 10 minutes. Install the 6 propeller shaft CV Joint-to-differential flange bolts starting from bolt 1 through 6 and torque them to 36 nm (27 lb ft) with crescent washers installed correctly. Re-clean all threads first then implement threadlocker on front propeller shaft coupler-to-transfer case flange bolts before tightening them to 36 nm (27 lb ft) while verifying complete CV Joint-to-propeller shaft tube rigidity. Lower the vehicle and reinstall the propeller shaft heat shield during the closing stage of installation.
