Q: How to replace the engine front timing cover on 2009 Cadillac STS?
A: To change the engine front cover, firstly you must remove the engine cover; in lp1 as well as ly7 engines, you must remove the upper Intake Manifold and this as well as lower Intake Manifold, but for llt engines, remove the Intake Manifold. Next is to remove the camshaft covers, drain the engine coolant, disconnect with the purge vent hose from the water outlet, remove the water outlet with the Radiator Hose. After that, remove the accessory drive belts, the A/C Compressor and power steering belts tensioner, their generator bracket with the generator and tensioner without disconnecting the power steering pipes or draining fluid from it. Repsoe the power steering fluid reservoir, take off the Power Steering Pump pulley and subsequently the Power Steering Pump upper front bolt with the loosening of the other bolts. Proceed to remove the crankshaft balancer, camshaft position sensors as well as the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves on the front cover. Take off the engine front cover with the Water Pump, and lift off the engine front cover, and thoroughly clean the sealing surfaces making sure to use cardstock between the Oil Pan front and the Oil Pump to prevent debris from getting into the Oil Pump use compressed air to remove any engine coolant from the cooling passages and the top session of the oil scraper. In the case of installation, build the engine front cover from the en 46109, install the camshaft position actuator solenoid valves and camshaft position sensors, install the crankshaft balancer, install the Power Steering Pump and the Power Steering Pump pulley. Install power steering fluid reservoir, generator bracket complete with generator and belt tensioner, a/c compressor and power steering belt tensioner, and accessory drive belts. Finally, install the water outlet, reconnect purge vent hose, fill cooling system, install camshaft covers, for llt installation Intake Manifold and for lp1 and ly7 engines upper Intake Manifold with lower Intake Manifold and finally install engine cover and fill cooling system once more.
