2009 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve on 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: The first step when changing the A/C Expansion Valve requires removing the charge air cooler inlet pipe. Recover the refrigerant then disconnect the condenser tube together with the evaporator hose from the A/C Expansion Valve. Remove the A/C Expansion Valve bolts and the old seal washers when you want to remove the A/C Expansion Valve from its position. New seal washers should be installed at evaporator core fittings before you place the A/C Expansion Valve in position and fasten it with bolts which need to be tightened to 7 Nm (62 lb in). New sealing washers should be installed to the condenser tube and evaporator hose fittings before reattaching these components to the A/C Expansion Valve. Secure the A/C Expansion Valve nut by tightening it to 20 Nm (15 lb ft). Put the charge air cooler inlet pipe back into place and perform the refrigerant system evacuation then recharging steps. To complete the process use the J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector for checking leakages in the fittings.
