• Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2009 Chevrolet Equinox?

  A: Recover the refrigerant and replace the air conditioning condenser. Then, take away the front fascia, and for pontiac models, remove the Hood Latch. Then, take off the battery box air duct and the condensing Radiator fan module (CRFM) closeout panel. Remove the nut and the liquid line nut also called liquid line from the condenser and apply a protecting cap on the liquid line to avoid contamination. Subsequently, eliminate the compressor hose nut and compressor hose on the condenser as well as capping the compressor hose. Check out the crfm bracket bolts from the Radiator support and remove the crfm brackets. Unbolt the bolts that attaches the top of the condenser to the Radiator, and remove the condenser from the vehicle. Pag oil should be added to the condenser (amount stated) and the Radiator to condenser seal should be checked. Mount the condenser onto the lower retention clips of Radiator and fasten on the top, with bolts tightened to 9 nm (80 lb in). Refasten the crfm brackets and fasten them with bolts that are tightened to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Take off the fly-off cap from the compressor hose, install a new sealing washer, and attach the compressor hose to the condenser, tighten the nut to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Put in a fresh seal washer in the liquid line; attach it to the condenser, then tighten the nut to 20 nm (15 lb ft). Install back the crfm closeout panel as well as the battery box air duct. For the pontiac models, the Hood Latch assembly must be reinstalled followed by the front fascia is reattached. Lastly, evacuate and charge the a/c system and test the compromised a/c joints through the j-39400-a (Halogen Leak Detector).
