  • Q: How to Replace the Rack and Pinion Steering Gear (LNF) (2.0L) on 2009 Chevrolet HHR?
    A: Rack And Pinion wheel replacement of the lnf (2.0L) gear begins by using a strap to fix the wheel position then locking the column before the sir system faces harm. First lock the Steering Wheel through straight-ahead positioning. Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies from position. Both Rack And Pinion outer tie rod end nuts must be removed in sequence before disposal while wedges should be avoided for nut separation. A puller tool labeled j 24319-b should be used to detach the Rack And Pinion outer tie rod ends from the steering knuckles. When working on the Rack And Pinion, first remove the intermediate Steering Shaft bolt then separate the intermediate Steering Shaft from the Rack And Pinion. Take out both the Catalytic Converter and transmission rear mount. First remove the Rack And Pinion bolts then extract the Rack And Pinion through the left wheelhouse opening. The new Rack And Pinion goes through the left wheelhouse opening for installation before the Rack And Pinion bolts receive a 110 nm (81 lb ft) torque. Put the transmission rear mount and the Catalytic Converter back into place. Secure the intermediate Steering Shaft to the Rack And Pinion and secure a fresh intermediate Steering Shaft bolt which must be tightened to 34 nm (25 lb ft). Install new nuts onto the Rack And Pinion outer tie rod ends after their attachment to steering knuckles. Torque these nuts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) followed by a 90-degree turn. After the front wheel installation set the front toe.
