  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2009 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Begin with negative Battery Cable disconnection when replacing the Starter motor. Next raise the vehicle until it is secure. Begin by disconnecting the engine harness connector from the Starter then remove the Starter solenoid terminal nut and positive Battery Cable terminal and Starter solenoid wire terminal . Remove the Starter bolts from the assembly then pull out the Starter unit. Place the Starter in the engine position while observing fastener security procedures. After fitting the Starter bolts into position tighten them to 40 nm using a torque wrench set to 30 lb ft. Reconnect the Starter solenoid wire terminal and positive Battery Cable terminal while aligning the anti-rotational tab to the indexing slot. Turn and lock the Starter solenoid terminal nut to 17 nm (13 lb ft) before connecting the engine harness connector to the Starter. Lower the vehicle before reattaching the negative Battery Cable.
