2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Lash Adjuster Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace Lash Adjusters on 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
A: Installation of new valve lifters begins with Intake Manifold and pushrod detachment followed by rack placement of all components for future reinstallation. Before continuing to remove bolts from the lifter pushrod guide place all valve lifters in a rack upright position to preserve their internal oil content. The j 3049-a (Valve Lifter Remover) helps remove lifters when they become stuck because of gum or varnish deposits. Use a solvent to clean the valve lifters bores then examine the holes for excessive wear or scoring and replace the engine block if necessary. Check the Camshaft for any signs of wear or damage before removing it for a complete investigation. Inspection of lifters should be combined with their required cleaning procedure. Install lubricant on new lifters before placement and reinstall used lifters to their original alignment. First install the lifters followed by the lifter pushrod guides before tightening the bolts to 16 nm (12 lb ft) and then adding the pushrods while finishing with the installation of the Intake Manifold. First-time start-ups of new lifters sometimes produce minor ticking noises that go away after slightly increasing rpms to build enough oil pressure.
