    Q:
How to replace the Lash Adjuster except for RPOs LC9, LH6, LMG, LME, and LY5 on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for lash adjusters (209) starts with removing the Cylinder Head and gasket in all vehicles unless their rpos match lc9, lh6, lmg, lme or ly5. Before adjuster removal begin by removing Lash Adjuster guide bolts (211) and Lash Adjuster guides (210) together with adjusters (209) while remembering the original guide positioning since it needs to match the block's locating tab. Organization or make marks on all components which will help the reinstallation process to their original positions if needed. Check and clean the lash adjusters according to their state. During installation apply engine oil to both the adjusters (209) and the engineered block Lash Adjuster bore holes before inserting the adjusters into the guides (210) until they reach the bore completely. Align the flat areas on the adjusters with corresponding flats in the guide bore holes. Align the flat area on the lash adjusters (209) with the corresponding flat area in adjuster guide (210) features of the engine block. Then completely push the adjusters into the guide before securing them to the block using recommended torque settings of 12 nm (106 lb in). After completion install the Cylinder Head together with the gasket.

    Q:
How to replace the Lash Adjusters on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the valve lifters, first, one should collect the tools: valve lifter remover (J 3049-A). Start by taking off the Intake Manifold and the pushrods while ensuring that the components are seated in a rack to ensure retention for reassembly. Next, unscrew the bolts and the lifter pushrod guide and position the valve lifters in rack upright so that the oil will remain inside. If there are any stuck valve lifters because of gum or varnish deposit in it, use valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) to remove them. Clean the valve lifter bores with a cleaning solvent and shop towel and check them for excessive wear or scoring which may require replacing the engine block. Also inspect the Camshaft for wear or damage removing the Camshaft for further inspection if needed. Replace the lifters as necessary. When re-installing new lifters, apply lubricant to the lifter rollers, and if using lifters for parts that they were used in initially, they were used in their original positions. Go on to install the lifters, then the lifter pushrod guides, ensuring the bolts are torqued to 16 n.m (12 lb ft), then install the pushrods and lastly the Intake Manifold. In new lifters, it is typical for engines to generate a little ticking sound when starting it for the first time; there should be some noise-lessening after slightly increasing the engine rpm to increase oil pressure.
