2009 GMC Acadia Cam Gear Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Cam Gear on the Left Side Intake Camshaft Position Actuator for Bank 2 on 2009 GMC Acadia?
A: The left side intake Camshaft position actuator for bank 2 needs replacement through removal of the left exhaust Camshaft actuator first. Remove the intake Camshaft position actuator bolt before taking out both the left intake Camshaft position actuator. Verify that the new actuator is right by looking for the in stamp on its casing which confirms it works only for intake usage. You must put the actuator at the correct spot to keep your engine working fine and prevent engine codes from emerging. To install the new actuator on the right intake Camshaft position wheel properly, line up the top part of the reluctor wheel with the peak of the left timing sprocket. Position the Camshaft position actuator by matching its circle indicator with the marked timing chain link on the left engine side. Before tightening the actuator bolt you must apply an open wrench to the hex feature of the Camshaft to hold it in place. Place the intake Camshaft position actuator onto its slot on the Camshaft and put the bolt in place lightly before tightening it securely. Replace the left exhaust Camshaft actuator as the final step.
