    Q:
How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 2 (Left Side) Intake on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step in replacing the bank 2 (Left Side) intake Camshaft position actuator is to remove its corresponding left exhaust Camshaft actuator. The maintenance process starts with removing the left intake Camshaft position actuator bolt which precedes extraction of the left intake Camshaft position actuator. Verify that the new actuator has the in marking on its body because this marks it as an intake part during installation. Engine performance will remain unaffected by the correct placement of actuators during the installation process and engine codes will not trigger. The reluctor wheel on the right intake Camshaft position actuator has a unique indexing system with different alignment compared to the left one which requires proper placement at the sprocket tooth peak. The outer ring circle marker of the Camshaft position actuator should match the specific timing chain link highlighted on the left engine side. When installing the actuator bolt avoid rotating the Camshaft through the use of an open wrench on its hex-shaped Camshaft integration. Install the bolt in a loose manner then tighten it while maintaining the wrench at the Camshaft hex to avoid rotation. Install the left exhaust Camshaft actuator as the last step.

    Q:
How to Replace the Cam Gear on the Left Side Intake for Bank 2 on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
To fix the left side intake Camshaft position actuator for bank 2 you must first take apart the left exhaust Camshaft actuator. Disconnect the intake Camshaft position actuator bolt and then take out the left intake Camshaft position actuator. During installation verify the actuator as the proper one through its in mark on the actuator body which indicates intake application. Putting the actuator in the proper position prevents engine performance problems and code errors. The slots in the reluctor wheel of the right intake actuator need special attention because they differ from the slot placement on the left actuator. Position the reluctor wheel edge directly above the highest point of the sprocket tooth on the left. Line up the circle mark on the outside of the Camshaft position actuator with the timing chain link indicator on the left engine side. During time alignment of the actuator bolt adjust your hex-judging wrench onto the hex slot on the Camshaft body. Set the intake Camshaft position actuator onto the Camshaft bolt but tighten it loose using an open-end wrench on the Camshaft hex to stop Camshaft rotation. Secure the final bolt for the Camshaft position actuator then put back the exhaust Camshaft actuator on the left side.

    Q:
How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 1 (Right Side) Exhaust on Buick Enclave? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to remove both lower Intake Manifold and the right camshaft cover to access the bank 1 exhaust camshaft position actuator. Untuck both the right camshaft position sensors before you remove the sensor actuator solenoids. When you rotate the crankshaft balancer bolt clockwise one turn and turn the balancer until the camshafts align parallel to the camshaft cover rail. Paint a stick onto the Timing Chain links and adjacent teeth of both the intake and exhaust camshaft position actuators before placing them on the baseplate. To create gap space between the actuator parts activate the open end wrench while moving the camshafts toward each other. Slide the en-48313 Timing Chain retention tool (EN-48313) legs backward by unscrewing it then position this tool between the camshaft actuators close to the Cylinder Head. Adjust the en-48313 moving control by turning the t-handle clockwise until the release feet tap the Timing Chain and center themselves in a link pocket to stop movement. First attach the en-48313 then expand the t-handle with an open end wrench. After installing the en-48313 in place, put an open end wrench on the actuator bolt to stop engine rotation before unwinding the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and removing both parts. If removing both actuator parts, let the Timing Chain drop over the en-48313. Place the exhaust camshaft actuator alignment mark on its Timing Chain reference marks to match the marks you made during removal. Adjust the intake camshaft actuator alignment mark at the same time. Connect the exhaust camshaft actuator to its position on the camshaft before lightly tightening the installation bolt and taking out the en-48313. Secure the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft) and put back the right intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids then install right intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors followed by the right camshaft cover and lower Intake Manifold.

    Q:
How to replace the Cam Gear on the Camshaft Position Exhaust Actuator on Chevrolet Equinox? Posted by Customer
    A:
The starting point to replace the camshaft position exhaust actuator starts with removal of the camshaft cover along with the spark plugs. Set the Crankshaft to receive clockwise rotation and put in the en-48953 (Camshaft Actuator Locking Tool) retention tool. The camshaft retainer bolts receive a final torque of 10 nm (89 lb in) and you should then unscrew the exhaust camshaft actuator bolt while keeping the bolt in place. Clean the Timing Chain with solvent while also labeling both the Timing Chain and camshaft position actuators for assembling the correct positions. Mark both intake and exhaust camshaft actuators on the Timing Chain before unbolting its upper guide as well as the Timing Chain Tensioner. Place the en-48749 (Timing Chain Retention Tool Kit) retention tool on the exhaust Timing Chain side before you remove both the exhaust camshaft actuator bolt and the exhaust camshaft actuator which must be discarded after separating it from the Timing Chain. Install the Timing Chain in the proper position onto the exhaust camshaft actuator after aligning its intake camshaft actuator alignment mark with the Timing Chain mark. Secure the intake camshaft actuator onto the camshaft by aligning its mark with the Timing Chain mark then tighten it using a new exhaust camshaft actuator bolt until undergoes adequate tightening. Use a retention tool en-48749 to remove from the exhaust Timing Chain location and install the tensioner along with resetting it followed by retainer installation of the intake camshaft actuator then tighten bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in). Use en-45059 (Angle Meter) to torque the new camshaft actuator bolt to 30 nm (22 lb ft) while additionally rotating it by 100 degrees. You should torque the Crankshaft balancer bolt counterclockwise at 45 nm (33 lb ft) to release the tensioner after removing the en-48953 retention tool. The last step is to install both upper Timing Chain Guide assemblies with 10 nm (89 lb in) torque. Next install the camshaft cover and spark plugs.

    Q:
How to replace the primary cam gear and timing chain on Chevrolet Traverse? Posted by Customer
    A:
Next, to displace the main timing chain and sprockets, remove at first engine front cover, and then take out spark plugs to enable Crankshaft rotation. Next, take out the right bank secondary Timing Chain Tensioner allowing for the right bank secondary timing chain shoe and guide and then the right bank secondary timing chain itself. Following that, take away the timing chains tab, timing chains upper city, and timing chain. Finally, remove Crankshaft sprocket off the nose of the Crankshaft. For installation, ensure that the Crankshaft sprocket is aligned in a position of face up with window visibility, placing notch of the sprocket at the pin of the Crankshaft and sliding it onto the Crankshaft's nose until it rests against the step. Ensure the Crankshaft is in stage one timing position with the timing mark appearing to stage one timing mark on the oil pump cover by using the en 46111. Go on to install the timing chain, primary upper Timing Chain Guide, timing chain tensioner, right bank secondary timing chain, right bank secondary Timing Chain Guide, right bank secondary timing chain shoe, and right bank secondary Timing Chain Tensioner. Finally, the spark plugs and the engine front cover should be reinstalled.

    Q:
How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 1 (Right Side) Intake on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure to replace the Camshaft position actuator on bank 1 (Right Side) intake starts by removing the right exhaust Camshaft actuator followed by removing both the intake Camshaft position actuator bolt and right intake Camshaft position actuator. Place the intake Camshaft position actuator onto the Camshaft before loosely installing the bolt while using an open-end wrench at the Camshaft hex to stop Camshaft/engine rotation. To finish the installation reinstall the right exhaust Camshaft actuator while performing the last step of bolt tightening on the Camshaft position actuator.

    Q:
How to replace the Cam Gear on Bank 1 (Right Side) Exhaust on GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure to replace the camshaft position actuator on bank 1 starts by removing its lower and upper intakes before detaching the right camshaft cover. Unplug both camshaft position sensors from their right locations before taking out their actuator solenoids also. For proper placement turn the crankshaft balancer bolt clockwise only until the camshafts align with the camshaft cover rail when they are in their lowest tension position. You should apply paint stick marks to both sides of the Timing Chain and to the actuators on the camshafts. These marks will show the correct alignment between components. Brace the hex area on left camshafts to make Timing Chain loose between camshaft position actuators. Insert the en-48313 tool legs between camshaft actuators. Then put its top line flat against the Cylinder Head surface. Turn the t-shaped handle clockwise to open en-48313 legs until its feet touch the Timing Chain. Keep each foot nested in chain link pockets to stop them from slipping. Turn the en-48313 handle by hand to set the tool then apply an open end wrench on the built in hex to tighten the t-handle further. Pull the camshafts closer together to create chain slack and then secure a wrench on the hex cast into the camshaft to keep the engine from spinning as you turn the camshaft position actuator bolt. Set the chain on the engine block as you remove the right exhaust camshaft position actuator bolt and the actuator unit from its socket. To take out the actuator reluctor wheel you need to match its opening with the cam sensor boss. To install align the exhaust camshaft actuator mark with Timing Chain mark while matching intake camshaft actuator mark to its proper Timing Chain position. Install the exhaust camshaft actuator onto its camshaft position then bolt it by hand before removing the en-48313 component. Set the exhaust camshaft actuator bolt to 58 n.m (43 lb ft) torque and put back the right intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoids, sensors, cover, and finally the lower Intake Manifold with upper manifold.
