How to replace a one-piece Drive Shaft on 2009 GMC Sierra 1500?

Before removing universal straps from the pinion yoke, avoid striking yoke ears and inserting tools between the yoke and universal joint since this action will cause injection joint fracture. Mark the transmission or Transfer Case and propeller shaft flip yoke, universal joint bearing cap and the propeller shaft before extracting the propeller shaft from the vehicle because this marks the starting point for installation. Check the Slip Yoke splines for proper lubrication because insufficient lubrication requires application of clean transmission fluid or grease. Route the rear propeller shaft bolts together with the strap before torqueing the yoke retainer bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft). Finally remove the main support then drop the vehicle to the ground.
