• Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) for Bank 1 Sensor 1 in a 1500 Series on 2009 GMC Yukon?

  A: Assessments for heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 1 (1500 Series) replacement must begin with lifting up the vehicle for support. If the vehicle includes four-wheel drive (4WD) you must detach the front propeller shaft bolt from the front Differential. At first remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and separate the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ho2s before extracting the ho2s electrical connector clip from its placement on the fuel line clip. First detached are the cpa retainer and engine wiring harness electrical connector clip from the fuel line clip then removed the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the ho2s. Carefully remove the ho2s (1 or 2). During installation of the ho2s sensor apply an anti-seize compound gm p/n 12377953 or equivalent compound to the sensor threads. During installation insert the ho2s (1 or 2) into position before tightening it to 42 nm (31 lb ft). For vehicles equipped with 4l60-e/4l70-e automatic transmissions follow these procedures: 1) attach the ho2s electrical connector clip to the fuel line clip, 2) connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the ho2s, 3) place the cpa retainer into position. Follow this installation sequence: connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the ho2s followed by the cp retainer installation. Minimize front Differential front propeller shaft installation before lowering a vehicle that has 4wd capabilities.
