To replace the front wheel drive shaft outer joint and boot without actually removing the boot from the vehicle leaf through the drive shaft by carefully removing the wheel drive shaft from the vehicle installing the drive Axle Shaft in a soft jawed vice, being careful not to cut through the inner or outer boot, doing so may damage the sealing surface the constant velocity joint and ensure that the shift also becomes worn prematurely. Carefully loosen the boot clamp on the constant velocity (CV) joint and the boot , cutting through the boot clamp which connects the boot to the cv-joint, using side cutters. Do away with the old boot clamps and use new ones only. Using a block of wood and hammer, displace the cv joint from the wheel drive shaft, and also detach the boot from the wheel drive shaft. Check the damage and wear on the outer cv joint. Next is locating the boot on the wheel drive shaft in a manner that it is being lodged on the wheel drive shaft or into the grooved wheel drive shaft. Put about half of the lubricant from the service kit into the outboard boot and fill the cv joint with remaining lubricant. Before installing the cv joint , bend the cv joint approx. 20 degrees with a hammer and block of wood, then you can install the boot clamp to the boot and the wheel drive shaft, after that installing the boot clamp to the boot and the cv joint housing. Make sure the boot clamp extends around the entire circumference of the boot and does not exceed 1.8mm (0.07 inch) for vehicles with x88 and 2.6mm (0.10 inch) for vehicles that have z88/w49/wda. Using the j-35910 - pliers, tightens the boot clamp until a gap that measures the 1.8mm (O.07 in) on vehicles with x88 and 2.6mm (O.10 in) for vehicles with as z88 /w49 / wda. For the vehicles with the type clamp earless kind, close the boot clamp with the help of the ch 48894 -pliers or ear type clamp by using the j 35910 -pliers, torque or ratchet wrench & breaker bar while closing the clamp for the gap till 1.9mm (0.07 in) for vehicles with x88. Apply the lubricant inside the outer cv joint by setting the position rotary motion four to five times then remove the wheel drive assembly from the bench vise and fit the wheel drive assembly.
