2010 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2010 Cadillac SRX?
A: A replacement process for the crankshaft balancer begins by removing the Drive Belt followed by installing the engine support fixture then disconnecting the Starter. You must install the en-46106 (Flywheel Holding Tool) through the Starter mounting hole while lowering the engine about two inches using the engine support fixture. The crankshaft balancer bolt gets replaced with the en-38416-2 (Crankshaft Button) that should be positioned at the front of the crankshaft nose. You should employ the en-41816 (Crankshaft Balancer Remover) while tightening its center bolt to remove the crankshaft balancer before taking out the tool. Before flywheel installation always insert the en-46106 (Flywheel Holding Tool) onto the flywheel structure. Install the crankshaft balancer by using the en-41998-b (Crankshaft Balancer Installer) with a bearing as well as washer and nut but do not apply any lubricant to the crankshaft front oil seal or sealing surfaces. Use the inside of the crankshaft balancer hub bore with lubricating agent before placing the balancer on the crankshaft and threading the en-41998-b (Crankshaft Balancer Installer) into the crankshaft before reaching a minimum of 10 threads for balancer pressing. Use the nut on the en-41998-b installer to press the large washer onto the crankshaft end until it reaches the stopping point. Then remove the installer. For installing the new balancer retaining hardware set install the bolt together with the washer and attain 100 nm (74 lb ft) torque and 150 degrees angle using the en-45059 tool. The operation ends by uninstalling the en-46106 (Flywheel Holding Tool) and then reinstalling the Starter before adding the Drive Belt followed by removing the engine support fixture.
