2010 Cadillac STS Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2010 Cadillac STS?
A: When you handle the Brake Master Cylinder change make sure you turn off the engine and press then release the Brake Pedal multiple times to empty the vacuum reserve of the power vacuum Brake Booster. Unplug the electrical connector for the brake fluid level indicator switch while you remove the support bracket push nut at the master cylinder attachment point. Take the air inlet panel support bracket out while moving it away from its position. Seal the master cylinder outlet while you disconnect the main brake pipe fitting to avoid brake fluid waste and contamination. Do this same brake fluid pipe disconnect step on the other end of the master cylinder. Take off the master cylinder nuts then extract the master cylinder through the power vacuum Brake Booster. Examine the master cylinder and power vacuum Brake Booster seal for any damage then switch the seal when needed. Place the vacuum Brake Booster seal into the master cylinder groove along its body without damaging it. You should bleed any freshly installed master cylinder. Secure the master cylinder onto the power vacuum Brake Booster and fasten 25 nm (18 lb ft) nuts onto its connections. Secure both the master cylinder secondary and primary brake pipe fittings with 36 nm (27 ft-lb) torque. Connect the brake fluid sensor wire again while making the air intake panel work and setting up the support bracket with the master cylinder stud before installing the support bracket push nut. The brake system should receive a fluid bleed at the end.
