    A: The process for front propeller shaft replacement begins with vehicle lifter and vehicle supporter application. First remove the propeller shaft heat shield while marking the propeller shaft constant velocity (CV) joint position against the transfer case flange. A flat-bladed tool should be inserted into the differential flange notch prior to removing the propeller shaft CV Joint-to-differential flange bolts. Using the flat-bladed tool and propeller shaft maneuvering you should move the shaft toward the rear of the vehicle to disengage the differential pinion flange from the CV Joint before removing all CV Joint-to-transfer case flange fasteners. A flat-bladed tool can be inserted through the notch on the transfer case flange to free up the propeller shaft when moving it toward the front side of the vehicle. Check if the propeller shaft rotates smoothly between its CV Joint and tube while inspecting for grease leakage or any CV Joint damage and seal failure and joint binding. Replace the front propeller shaft if such issues occur. Installation starts with fitting the coned end of the CV Joint into the transfer case flange before connecting the propeller shaft to both transfer case and differential flanges. It is essential to check the condition of the propeller shaft-to-flange bolts while replacing damaged or worn out bolts after cleaning the threads and applying threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) which needs to cure for at least ten minutes. Secure the 6 CV Joint-to-differential flange bolts according to sequence (1-6) by applying torque to 30 nm (22 lb ft) while using crescent washers in the specified positions. Wash and apply threadlocker to the front propeller shaft coupler-to-transfer case flange bolts before installation while torquing them to 30 nm (22 lb ft) and checking for absence of rotational motion between the CV Joint and propeller shaft tube. Reinstall the propeller shaft heat shield after completing the process by lowering the vehicle.
