Start by detaching the electrical connector from the rear object sensor before you can remove the sensor by lifting its housing locking tabs. Use a spring squeezing motion to detach the part from the housing mechanism before unfastening the housing tabs to remove it. Afterward push the rear object sensor bezel through the fascia before extracting it. When fitting the new rear object sensor apply paint using a suitable gauge for non-ferrous metals until it achieves a proper thickness of 6 mils. Secure the keyhole opening to the key component and then push the rear object sensor housing to reach complete fascia surface contact. Space the steel spring keys at the top and bottom area when you place the housing through cutouts on the bezel from behind the fascia surface. Placing the spring onto the housing while the decoupling ring goes onto the sensor next. Position the sensor inside the housing so that its connector leads toward the passenger side while pressing the sensor tabs into each housing outlet. Reinstall the fascia covering the rear bumper after connecting the electrical connector to the rear object sensor.
