  A: Start by taking off the air conditioning Drive Belt before replacing the clutch assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector which fastens to the A/C Compressor coil assembly. The air conditioning clutch screw must be removed with the j 37872 (Universal Spanner Wrench) before being disposed. The splined shaft features air gap shims which separate the clutch driver component from its surface. The installation process starts with clutch driver removal from splined shaft then pulley and bearing assembly retainer disposal. First remove the pulley and bearing assembly from the A/C Compressor before discarding both the coil assembly retainer and coil assembly. Clean the splined shaft along with retainer grooves until all debris is removed. Then use an m6 x 1.0 tap to scrape adhesive from the shaft threads before blowing out remaining debris using compressed air. Mount the coil assembly to the A/C Compressor by making sure that retainers fit completely into each groove. Reinstall the A/C Compressor with a fresh coil assembly retainer followed by the pulley and bearing assembly before installing a new pulley and bearing assembly retainer. Clean pag oil applied with shims maintains a 0.3-0.6 mm (0.011-0.024 in) air gap between the clutch driver and pulley. Install a light coat of pag oil to secure the shims around their position. Measure the clutch driver air gap as it sits on the splined shaft to confirm a distance of 0.3-0.6 mm (0.011-0.024 in). The driver must move without rubbing the pulley as installed. Apply j 37872 to install a new air conditioning clutch screw then tighten it to 10 nm (89 lb in). Reinstall the Drive Belt after you reconnect the electrical connection to the A/C Compressor coil assembly.
