2010 Chevrolet Express 3500 Brake Pad Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear disc brake pads (JH9) on 2010 Chevrolet Express 3500?
A: The replacement of jh9 rear disc brake pads starts with fluid regulation in the brake master cylinder reservoir. If fluid sits above midway it should be drained until it reaches the target point. Put the car on stands and take out the wheel and tire combination for replacement. Place the large c-clamp onto the outboard disc Brake Pad backing plate and over the back of the caliper to gently push the brake pistons into their housing. Take out brake caliper guide pins only if required. Secure the brake caliper on heavy mechanic wire to keep the hydraulic hose safe when you loosen and remove the brake caliper bracket bolts. Take out the brake caliper and bracket assembly together with the outer disk Brake Pad and inner Brake Pad plus the Brake Pad springs. Clean all surface areas on the brake caliper bracket that touch other parts. Check the guide pin caps of your brake caliper and replace any broken or missing items. Check brake caliper components while both pins stay connected to the wheel assembly. Place the Brake Pad springs inside the assembly before you fit both the brake pads onto their positions. Wipe away threadlocker from the brake caliper bracket bolt and rear axle space. Use gm p/n 89021297 threadlocker and apply it to 2/3 of the threaded brake caliper bolt before the material dries for 10 minutes. The brake caliper and bracket unit should be positioned upon the rear axle prior to inserting brake caliper bracket bolts. Torque the bolts to 300 nm (221 lb ft). Keep the engine turned off while you slow down the Brake Pedal to 2/3 distance and then release it. Repeat this until you achieve a firm Brake Pedal position to properly position the brake caliper and pads. After filling the brake unit you should properly seat both brake pads and rotors through a special alignment technique.
