Start by clamping the drive Axle Shaft into a soft jawed vice with care to avoid boot damage that could harm the constant velocity joint's sealing surface and cause premature wear. Detach the boot clamp on both the constant velocity (CV) joint and boot by using a flat-bladed tool before extracting boot clamps from the wheel drive shaft and boot with side cutters. The service requires replacement with brand new boot clamps. Use block wood with a hammer to detach the cv joint from the wheel drive shaft before pulling off the boot. Check the outer cv joint for possible damage and signs of wear. Lay the new boot along the drive shaft wheel orientation within its designated groove for proper fitting. Crank half the grease from the service kit into the outboard boot and use the rest to fill the cv joint with grease. Use a block of wood with a hammer to install the cv joint onto the wheel drive shaft before securing boot clamps across the boot's entire circumference on both components. Scrape the boot clamp together using the j 35910 to achieve a torque of 174 nm (130 lb ft). Seal the boot clamp with ch-48894 so the clamp fits properly onto the boot closure. Distribute cv joint grease through the outer cv joint by rotating the wheel drive shaft four to five times inside the bench vise.
