    Begin the wheel drive shaft outer joint and boot replacement by cutting off and discarding the large seal retaining clamp from the cv joint using a side cutter tool. Perform the same procedure on the small seal retaining clamp from the halfshaft bar before moving forward. Cut the outboard seal free from the cv joint outer race while moving it past the bar. Clean the cv joint inner race thoroughly before spreading its retaining ring ring ears with j 8059 sealant. This procedure allows the bar to release the cv joint assembly. A brass drift combined with a hammer should strike the cv joint cage of the bar while tapping gently to flush out all chrome alloy balls . Both the cv joint cage and inner race need to face perpendicular to the outer race to extract them. British standard ring spanners should be used to turn the inner race to a 90 degree position and insert it through the cage window for removal. Apply cleaning solvent to cleanse all surfaces of cv joints, cv joint cage and balls until you remove every bit of outdated grease along with every contaminant before drying each part thoroughly. To build the assembly fit the new swage ring onto the joint seal's small end before setting both components onto the halfshaft bar with the small end aligned to the seal groove. Compatible the outboard halfshaft end into j 41048 tool while aligning the seal neck towards the lower die's center point using the indicator. Place the tool's upper section on its base ensuring no pinch points exist before securing the bolts with hand pressure until they become tight enough. Begin by aligning j 41048's seal with the swage ring and halfshaft bar and follow by tightening each bolt at 180-degree intervals with a ratchet wrench to reach the bottom of both sides. Scrape the boot clamp together using the j 35910 to achieve a torque of 174 nm (130 lb ft). Seal the boot clamp with ch-48894 so the clamp fits properly onto the boot closure. Distribute cv joint grease through the outer cv joint by rotating the wheel drive shaft four to five times inside the bench vise.
