2010 Chevrolet Impala Transmission Oil Cooler Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Transmission Oil Cooler on 2010 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step when replacing the transmission oil cooler is to check that enough space exists around transaxle oil cooler pipes and hoses for safe installation without fluid leakage. Start by taking off the upper radiator air baffle then remove the transmission oil cooler bolt from the upper radiator support. The installation process starts by removing the lower radiator support of the transmission oil cooler bolts together with the lower radiator air baffle. The process begins by disconnecting inlet and outlet transmission oil cooler lines from support clips then lowering the cooler just below the front bumper. Detach both inlet and outlet hoses that run to the transmission oil cooler. Installation of the new cooler begins by attaching inlet and outlet hoses before you return the cooler in place. Screw back the inlet and outlet lines through the support clips with additional attention to fastener caution rules. Fasten transmission oil cooler bolts over the lower radiator support by applying 10 Nm (89 lb in) torque while replacing the lower radiator air baffle. Complete installation involves attaching the transmission oil cooler bolt to the upper radiator support and tightening it to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). The final step is reinstalling the upper radiator air baffle then adjusting fluid level properly.
