Begin by disabling the restraints system then turning off the ignition. Draw an alignment mark on the Steering Wheel hub to match the slash mark on the
Steering Shaft before you can remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module. Twist off the Steering Wheel nut until it reaches the end of the Steering Shaft. Apply the Steering Wheel puller (J1859-A) along with Steering Wheel puller legs (J42578) to your Steering Wheel and unseat the existing Steering Wheel from its Steering Shaft position. Remove the puller before you remove the Steering Shaft nut and then detach the Steering Wheel from the shaft. Move on to disconnect the restraints connector which is mounted on the Steering Wheel. Route the restraints connector through the Steering Wheel after aligning the scribe mark with the slash mark on the Steering Shaft. Then install the Steering Wheel. After installation of the Steering Shaft nut tighten it to 41 nm (30 ft. Lbs.) while reinstalling the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module along with enabling the restraint system. The final inspection should check the
Horn along with the Steering Wheel and Steering Wheel control functions.
