- Q: How to Properly Maintain and Replace the Rocker Arm on Buick LeSabre?A: A torque angle meter (J 45059) serves as the fundamental tool which you need to service and repair valve rocker arms with attached push rods. Climb into the service by first taking off the left and right valve Rocker Arm covers and then removing the pedestal retaining bolts to detach the pedestal. Prior to reassembly both assemblies need to sit on a sanitized surface while all components need to be placed for reinstallation at their initial removal positions using their original mating surfaces. To continue remove both Rocker Arm assembly components and Pushrods while cleaning all thread adhesive from bolts and examining both valve rocker arms as well as pushrods. The pushrods need to be installed first before the valve Rocker Arm assembly and ending with the pedestal installation. The two bolts securing the lower Intake Manifold to the Cylinder Head become accessible only after completing upper intake service because this procedure is required to work on the lower intake. Install threadlocker gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) pain or equivalent to the bolt threads on the valve Rocker Arm pedestal before securing the bolts with the pedestal. Use the torque angle meter (J 45059) to secure valve Rocker Arm bolts at 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) + 90° torque angle. To finish the procedure replace both valve Rocker Arm covers then check for any valve train noise.
