2004 Buick LeSabre Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the valve rocker arm and push rod on 2004 Buick LeSabre?
A: The service and repair of valve rocker arms and push rods begins with acquiring the necessary tool which is torque angle meter (J 36660-A). The service requires removal of left and right valve Rocker Arm covers and the pedestal retaining bolts before finally taking the pedestal out. The assemblies must be set on a sanitized area which will be used to store them before reassembly begins. After removing the Rocker Arm assembly with the pushrods you should clean all thread adhesive from the bolts before inspecting the valve rocker arms and pushrods. The pushrods must be installed first followed by the valve Rocker Arm assembly then the pedestal installation. Access to the two bolts holding the lower Intake Manifold to the Cylinder Head becomes possible only if you first remove the upper Intake Manifold. The threads of the valve Rocker Arm bolts require gm p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) threadlocker compound or equivalent solution for application before installing the bolts to their position with 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) + 90 degrees torques set by torque angle meter (J 36660-A). Completion of the installation requires putting back the left and right valve Rocker Arm covers and conducting a check for valve train noise.
