  The replacement of the Ignition Lock Cylinder begins with battery negative cable disconnection and sir system disablement. Begin by taking away the lower steering column trim covers' retaining screw and the Steering Wheel. Begin by shifting the trim cover downward to release its locking mechanisms before pulling it back and taking out the lower column trim covers. The lock cylinder access hole becomes visible after you remove the retaining screws from both the upper steering column trim cover and then lift up the trim cover. Insert the snap-on a173a bent-tip awl into the access hole of the Ignition Lock Cylinder and rotate the Ignition Lock Cylinder to start position. First position the Ignition Lock Cylinder retainer downward using the bent tip before returning the Ignition Lock Cylinder to run position to withdraw it from the lock cylinder case. To install proceed by sliding the Ignition Lock Cylinder from the upper steering column trim cover until its retaining tab lines up with a slot in the lock housing and its position tab matches another lock housing slot then push the lock cylinder into complete housing position. Screw drivers tighten the upper steering trim cover retaining screws to 3.5 nm (31 inch lbs.). Proceed by matching the lower trim cover's tab slots to the upper trim cover's locking tabs before raising the lower cover and sliding it until all tabs lock together. Install the lower trim cover screws to the steering column, tightening them to 1.5 nm (13 inch lbs.)begin by installing the Steering Wheel. To complete the procedure start the sir system then reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
