  A: The first step in fixing the Shift Interlock Solenoid is to take out the knee bolster. The automatic transmission shift lock control requires connector disconnect and subsequent prying from the Steering Column support assembly using a screwdriver until full removal. The first step for installation is to align the column into its neutral position before adding the automatic transmission shift lock control. Adjust the control system by extending the tab located on the block wall while moving the column selector to neutral position. Afterward compress the adjuster block internal spring so that the block section travels to its farthest solenoid distance. To finish installation, move the column to park and provide security through tab alignment while inspecting the automatic transmission controller before connecting controls and installing Steering Column trims and knee bolster.
