To replace the coil for the inflatable restraint
Steering Wheel module, first, disable the sir system. Remove the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module, steering wheel nut, and record the alignment mark on the
Steering Shaft Steering Wheel. Remove the Steering Wheel, grip and pull out the tilt lever, and then alleviated the tilt lever assembly. Next, remove the 2 pan head tapping screws from the lower shroud and also remove the lower shroud. After replacing its bore, fit the upper shroud back in place and secure it with one torx® head screw that you took off. Remove the wire harness straps from the Steering Wheel column wire harness, then take out the retaining ring as well as the air bag clock spring from the Steering Shaft. For installation, align the block tooth and centering mark at 12 o'clock. A new sir coil assembly will arrive pre-centered, so check for centering. Align sir coil assembly to horn tower on the turn signal cancel cam assembly, slip wave washer to upper shaft assembly, and slide the coil assembly onto the race and upper shaft assembly. Push the centering tab to a side & discard it, and install the retaining ring. Mount the upper shroud and tighten it with a 1.5 nm (13 lb in) torque torx® head screw. Mount the lower shroud in place and fix it using 2 pan head tapping screws tightened to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Spindle the tilt lever in to the
Steering Column and push the tilt lever handle till it tightens. Feed the wiring into the Steering Wheel, line up the Steering Wheel with the mark on the Steering Shaft and install the Steering Wheel nut, tighten up to 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Connect the sir module, the inflatable restraint Steering Wheel module and the last step is to enable the sir system.
