    A:
Before replacing an Idle Control Valve start by removing the fuel injector sight shield and disconnecting the electrical connector from the valve. After you remove both attaching screws you can detach the Idle Control Valve from the Throttle Body and then take off the o-ring from the valve. When inspecting the o-ring check for any signs of damage and change it if needed. Check that the valve's pintle achieves compression to a maximum of 1 - 1/8 inches (28 mm) prior to new valve installation to prevent damage. Place the new o-ring onto the Idle Control Valve before you position the valve into the Throttle Body and tighten the attaching screws to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Connect the electrical connector back to the Idle Control Valve. The Idle Control Valve requires a reset from the pcm which occurs during the on and off sequence of ignition. Perform this procedure step. After the engine warms up start the vehicle while reinstalling the fuel injector sight shield.
