    Q:
How to replace the Idle Control Valve on Buick Park Avenue? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing an Idle Control Valve start by removing the fuel injector sight shield and disconnecting the electrical connector from the valve. After you remove both attaching screws you can detach the Idle Control Valve from the Throttle Body and then take off the o-ring from the valve. When inspecting the o-ring check for any signs of damage and change it if needed. Check that the valve's pintle achieves compression to a maximum of 1 - 1/8 inches (28 mm) prior to new valve installation to prevent damage. Place the new o-ring onto the Idle Control Valve before you position the valve into the Throttle Body and tighten the attaching screws to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Connect the electrical connector back to the Idle Control Valve. The Idle Control Valve requires a reset from the pcm which occurs during the on and off sequence of ignition. Perform this procedure step. After the engine warms up start the vehicle while reinstalling the fuel injector sight shield.

    Q:
How to replace the Idle Control Valve on Buick LeSabre? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by removing the fuel injector sight shield and disconnect the electrical connector from the Idle Control Valve. First disconnect the Idle Control Valve electrical connector from the Throttle Body then unscrew its attaching screws to extract the valve before removing its o-ring assembly. Check the o-ring for damage before making a new purchase if damage is present. A new valve installation needs a pinch operation on the cone when it extends beyond 28 mm (1-1/8 in) or less. Place the new o-ring on the Idle Control Valve before installing it into the Throttle Body using attaching screws torqued at 3 n.m (27 lb in). Put the power on and off by letting the ignition switch cycle through each position to reset the Idle Control Valve through the powertrain control module (PCM). Wait until the engine achieves normal operating temperature then reinstall the fuel injector sight shield.

    Q:
How to replace the Idle Control Valve on Chevrolet Monte Carlo? Posted by Customer
    A:
Starting by turning off the ignition you must disconnect the Idle Control Valve before you replace it. The removal of two retention screws enables you to disconnect the Idle Control Valve with its o-ring. Check that the cone (pintle) extension exceeds 28 mm (1 - 1/8 in) before installation by compressing it manually if needed. Place the Idle Control Valve inside the Intake Manifold after installing its new o-ring while using 2 screws tightened to 3.0 n.m (27 lb in). The electrical connector requires connection to the Idle Control Valve after which you should reset the pcm through a 10-second ignition on phase followed by a 5-second ignition off period. Start the engine while letting it achieve regular operating temperature.
