Buick Rainier Air Filter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the air filter element on Buick Rainier?
A: Air cleaner replacements begin by removing the radiator support diagonal brace when necessary. First disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) reaction pump inlet hose which connects to the air cleaner air outlet duct. Use a screwdriver to remove the 3 air cleaner cover/resonator retaining screws before you can remove the air cleaner cover/resonator. The lower air cleaner housing/washer solvent tank assembly requires removal of the Air Filter and air outlet duct before pulling the Air Filter off the air outlet duct by twisting and pulling. A complete examination of the assembly should be performed to identify dust, debris or water presence. Any needed cleaning or replacement should occur straightaway. Push the Air Filter onto the air outlet duct while twisting it into position before sliding both components into the lower air cleaner housing/washer solvent tank assembly. Position the air inlet duct correctly within the lower air cleaner housing/washer solvent tank assembly prior to installing both air cleaner cover/resonator pieces. Screw in the 3 air cleaner cover/resonator retaining screws to 4 n.m (35 lb in) torques. Connect the air outlet duct to the air pump inlet hose then reinstall the radiator support diagonal brace if present.
