Before handling the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve you should first turn off ignition and disconnect its electrical connector. To extract the EGR valve begin by removing its two retaining nuts before removing it from the unit. The EGR valve adapter requires gasket removal before its adapter gets cleaned from all debris and dirt. Begin by placing a new gasket onto the EGR adapter followed by installing the EGR valve while using the two nuts to torque them at 30 N.m (22 lb ft). Resume installation by connecting the electrical connector to the EGR valve.
