The Ignition Coil is one of the indispensable automotive parts that show the brand's concern on the durability and power. This ignition coil is specifically designed to step up the 12 volts from the battery to a high voltage range of 15,000 to 40,000 volts ensures proper ignition of the air/fuel mixture interior the engine's cylinder for efficient performance. Applicable to Cadillac Catera cars made from 1996 to 2001, this ignition coil comes in single coil/low impedance, DIS, and COP options. COP system makes the car efficient in terms of shocks delivered to spark plugs as it disconnects the high-tension leads and distributors. This innovation not only makes the Cadillac Catera run better but also make it safer from the problems that result from coil failure by causing engine misfires. The Ignition Coil can be advantageous due to its several features; shielded copper wire coils lying on an iron structure are durable and long-lasting. In this context Cadillac attempted to move into the realm of luxury while the Catera with the V6 engine and the new generation of ignition system translated into the new direction of the Cadillac. In general, Ignition Coil is indispensable for the mechanic as well as the performance of the automobile proving Cadillac's brand of craftsmanship that has made it a major player in the luxury sedan market.

Cadillac Catera Ignition Coil Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ignition coil on the LH side on Cadillac Catera?
    A:
The coil pack remover (J 43301) should become part of your necessary repair tools when replacing lh side ignition coils. The first step requires removing wiring channel bolts from the intake plenum while repositioning the wiring channel to a safe location. Unplug the coil pack electrical connector while you remove coil pack retaining bolts through careful application of the coil pack remover (J 43301). Insert the coil pack remover (J 43301) into the coil pack before evenly pulling out the coil pack while removing the coil pack remover (J 43301). Evaluation of coil pack seals and Spark Plug boots should be performed for damage signs or wear; both components will need replacement if needed. After lining up the Spark Plug boots with the plugs position the coil pack carefully into its place. Position your coil pack retainer bolts then tighten them to 8 n.m (71 lb in) before connecting the coil pack electrical connector. Position the wiring channel correctly then install its bolts at 8 n.m (71 lb in) torque.
