Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder on Cadillac CTS?
A: The driver side instrument panel insulator needs removal before beginning the Clutch Master Cylinder replacement steps. Unfold the electrical connection for the clutch pedal position switch and the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod disconnect from the clutch pedal pin. Position the clutch fluid reservoir on the cowl's side after removal. Detach the vacuum Brake Booster while keeping the Clutch Master Cylinder's hydraulic hoses intact. Use one eighth clockwise rotation to remove the Clutch Master Cylinder from its cowl position. Fluorescent rubber covers each exposed hose fitting to prevent leakage during the instrument panel park brake pedal assembly removal process. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic hose. Insert the Clutch Master Cylinder into the cowl making sure the clutch fluid reservoir connection faces the 2 o'clock position. Through counterclockwise rotation of approximately 1/8 turn the Clutch Master Cylinder will reach its full seating position while the clutch fluid reservoir hose remains at the vertical 12 o'clock position. Construct the vacuum Brake Booster followed by attaching the clutch fluid reservoir to the cowl. Pass through the Clutch Master Cylinder push rod onto the clutch pedal pin while performing a push function to lock it into place. Next inspect the clutch pedal function and install the driver side instrument panel insulation. Bleed the hydraulic system which operates the clutch.
