Cadillac CTS Fuel Pressure Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the fuel pressure sensor on a 3.6L engine on Cadillac CTS?
A: As a first step to replace the Fuel Pressure Sensor on a 3.6l engine one needs to relieve the fuel system pressure. Start by removing both the cross vehicle brace and Intake Manifold before taking off the foam insulator from the Fuel Rails. It is important to avoid touching the plastic sensor housing with direct force yet you can use its hexagon for the tightening or loosening process. A 27 mm socket will be used to remove the Fuel Pressure Sensor from the fuel injection Fuel Rail for disposal. Deplete all fuel from the Fuel Rail and sensor location before using a lint-free cloth to dry both the sealing cone inside the rail and its surrounding area. Check that the sealing cone remains free of fuel as well as debris while being burr-free. Apply gm p/n 12345610 (equivalent to Canadian P/N 993193) silicon-free engine oil to the threads and sealing cone in the Fuel Rail followed by new Fuel Pressure Sensor treatment with the same lubricant before installation. Screw the new Fuel Pressure Sensor into the fuel injection Fuel Rail but only achieve hand tight contact then remove it to apply lubrication once more. Finish the process by installing the sensor to the rail while tightening it to 33 nm (25 lb ft). Fasten the new Fuel Pressure Sensor onto the fuel injection Fuel Rail by torquing it to 33 nm (25 lb ft). The foam insulator should be installed before the Intake Manifold takes its place. The replacement of the Fuel Rail becomes necessary when a fuel leak develops from this area. The ignition should be turned on when the engine is off for two seconds before being turned off for ten seconds then turned on again with the engine off to check for fuel leaks. Everything will finish with reinstallation of the cross vehicle brace.
