How to replace the Center Console (D55) on Cadillac Eldorado?

Begin console replacement (D55) by first removing the storage compartment followed by disconnecting three electrical connectors from the left inner Center Console area. You need to start by taking out the console trim plate together with the ashtray and driver information switch. Start by uninstalling the radio and a/c control assembly followed by removing two fasteners holding the console to the floor and four fasteners holding it to the instrument panel. End the console air supply duct through turning its release mechanism before removing the tie band. Remove all electrical connectors between the console unit and the auto transmission park lock cable as well as the auto transmission range selector lever cable and the btsi electrical connector. Pay attention to the metal brackets so they do not damage vehicle upholstery when taking them off. Pull the console rearward at the same time as lifting it upward until you can remove it from the vehicle before moving essential components. Extract the shift assembly component from the console frame. The installation process requires connection of the shift assembly to the console followed by the console's return to its vehicle position. Guide the three electrical connectors through the left opening in the Center Console and finish their installation. Reattach the console blower air supply duct while fastening it with the tie strap.
