• Q: How to replace the Center Console (D55) on 2001 Cadillac Eldorado?

  A: To replace the console, the first step is to unbolt the console storage compartment, then you will have to disconnect 3 electrical connectors on the left inner side of the Center Console. Next, take off the console trim plate, ashtray and driver, information switch, radio and a/c control assembly. Take off the 2 fasteners that hold the console to the floor and the 4 fasteners that bolt it to the instrument panel. Remove the console air supply duct by removing turn. Detach the tie band for removing. After pulling off the fuses - the console, the auto transmission park lock cable, the auto transmission range selector lever cable, and the btsi electrical connector - the electrical connectors are then disconnected. Do not allow the metal brackets to rub against the seats while removing it. Pull the console back while lifting the rear and remove from the vehicle after moving any necessary components. Pull off the shift assembly from the console. For installation, mount the shift assembly to the console, after which install the console back into the vehicle. Route the 3 connector on the left side of the Center Console and connect them. Re-join the console blower air supply duct and tie strap it. Tighten the 4 fasteners to retain the console to the instrument panel to 6 n.m (53 lb in), and tighten the 2 fasteners on the floor to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). Ladder the auto transmission park lock cable, the auto transmission range selector lever cable and the btsi electrical connector. To reinstall, remove the radio/heater and a/c control assembly, the driver information switch, the ashtray, the console trim plate, and lastly the storage compartment.
