Cadillac Eldorado Hood Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Hood Cable on Cadillac Eldorado?
A: The first step to replace the Hood Cable includes removing the radiator support sight shield followed by the air cleaner assembly and engine compartment fuse and relay center cover. You need to tie a string around the cable before taking it out to maintain correct routing paths during installation. Begin by disconnecting the Hood Cable from its primary latch before removing its clips to guide it down the body rail's rear section of the vehicle. Insert the cable with grommet through the passenger area after uninstalling both the left sound insulator and hood release latch fasteners. Cut the string that held the old cable assembly then extract the Hood Cable along with the release latch from the vehicle. To install the new cable assembly tie it to the cowl while pulling the new cable into position along the body rail to the front of the vehicle. Fit the cowl panel grommet by rotating it to the right and then hook up the Hood Cable to the primary latch followed by setting the Hood Cable latch in position at the lower instrument panel. Fasten the latch release handle's components while tightening the fasteners to 6 n.m (53 lb in). The installation process should begin by placing back the left sound insulator followed by the engine compartment fuse and relay center cover, the air cleaner assembly, and ending with replacement of the radiator support sight shield.
