The first step to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor that serves RPO codes LY6/L76/L92 requires you to clean the sensor area to stop debris from reaching the engine system. Begin by supporting the vehicle under the lift before disconnection takes place between the engine wiring harness electrical connector and CMP sensor wire harness. Remove three bolts (738) from the CMP sensor wire harness and disconnect its electrical connectors from the CMP sensor and the CMP actuator magnet. The CMP sensor wire harness (737) and its complementary items such as CMP sensor (703) and O-ring seal (704) need to be removed. After checking the sensor O-ring for damages, apply clean engine oil before installing it onto the sensor. Use CMP sensor (703) to attach it onto the front cover before connecting CMP sensor wire harness (737). Attach the CMP sensor wire harness electrical connectors both to the CMP sensor and CMP actuator magnet prior to tightening three CMP sensor wire harness bolts (738) to 12 N.m (106 lb in). The engine wiring harness electrical connector needs to be connected to the CMP sensor wire harness before lowering the vehicle.
