When changing the Mass Air Flow Sensor into an intake Air Temperature Sensor the sensor requires gentle handling to prevent hurting the honeycell opening and maintain the sensor's elements free from solvents and lubricants. The air duct installation requires a little amount of non-silicone lubricant. The first step involves taking out the air cleaner outlet resonator that is connected to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. The installation procedure begins when the technician disconnects the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor and loosens the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp before extracting the sensor out of its air cleaner assembly position. To install the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor place it in the air cleaner assembly while aligning the embossed arrow toward the motor direction. Secure the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor adapter clamp at 4 nm (35 lb in) while connecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector to the Mass Air Flow Sensor/iat sensor. Reinstall the air cleaner outlet resonator as the last step.
