The installation of the maf sensor can benefit from gm lubricant (P/N 99855406) applied in a small amount to the air duct. Start your maf sensor service by deconnecting the 3 wire electrical connector and then releasing the clamp on the intake duct before softly removing the maf sensor from its place. To perform the installation you should place the maf sensor into its correct position and then install both intake ducts before tightening the clamp and reconnecting the electrical connector.

The new maf sensor must have flow arrows facing away from the air cleaner assembly during installation. Position the maf sensor inside the air intake ducts before securing the clamps at a torque of 4 n.m (35 lb in). The maf sensor harness connector must be connected at last.

    The mass air flow (MAF) sensor requires delicate handling to prevent damage along with avoiding contact to sensing elements and protecting its sensing elements from solvents and lubricants. Start your procedure with the ignition off state and then disconnect the maf sensor harness connector. You should first remove front air filter housing tab bolts followed by clamping the maf sensor before removing it from the intake ducts. When installing the maf sensor position the arrows to face away from the air cleaner assembly and install the sensor in the ducts while tightening clamps to 4 n.m (35 lb in). Install the front air filter housing tab bolts while rejoining the maf sensor harness connector to the system. After starting the engine check for any sign of air leakage.

    To service mass air flow (MAF) sensor tackle that maf-iat sensor with care to prevent the destruction of honeywell on the air inlet end; do not put fingers on the sensing elements and do not bring cleaning solvents of lubricating oil to be in touch with them. Apply a small quantity of a non-silicone based lubricant on the air duct to help with installation. Start with loosening the clamps (1,3) at the maf-iat sensor and at the Throttle Body & then remove the air intake duct from both the maf-iat sensor & the Throttle Body. Untighten the clamp holding the maf-iat sensor to the air cleaner housing and disconnect the maf/iat sensor electrical connector before removing the sensor out of the air cleaner assembly. For installation, turn the embossed arrow pointing towards the engine softward on the maf-iat sensor then install it to the air cleaner housing to and secure to it using the securing clamp. Reconnect the maf-iat electrical connector,reinstall the air intake duct to the maf-iat sensor and close the Throttle Body, and lastly tighten clamps (1,3) at the maf-iat sensor), and the Throttle Body.
