To replace the engine front cover for rpos ly6/l76/l92, start by removing the
Water Pump, crankshaft balancer, as well as disconnecting the engine harness electrical connecter from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wire harness. Next, loosen the oil pan-to-front cover bolts, front cover bolts (501), and then remove the front cover (502) and gasket (503), and discard the old gasket. Take off the crankshaft front oil seal, and if the engine front cover is to be replaced, proceed to remove the cmp sensor wire harness bolts (738), disconnect the wire harness from the cmp sensor, and remove the cmp sensor wire harness (737) and cmp sensor (703). Alsoimitive recover the cmp actuator magnet bolts (751) & magnet (752) discarding the cmp actuator magnet gasket (753). For installation, be careful not to reuse the crankshaft oil seal or front cover gasket and use no sealant unless stated. Center the crankshaft front oil seal correctly to avoid premature wear or leaking. When replacing the front cover, install a new cmp actuator magnet gasket (753), the cmp actuator magnet (752) and the bolts (751) applying 12 n.m (106 lb in). Check for wear and tear and lubricate the cmp sensor o-ring seal (704) with clean engine oil and then install the cmp sensor (703). Mount the cmp sensor wire harness (737) to the front cover, take it to the cmp sensor, then take the wire harness bolts (738) and tighten them to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Apply 5 mm (0.20 in) bead of sealant to the oil pan-to-engine block junction, place a new engine front cover gasket- (503) and front cover (502) onto the engine, and tighten front cover bolts (501) and oil pan to the front cover bolts until tight. Apply the j 41476 front and rear cover alignment tool (J 41476) to align the front cover, install the crankshaft balancer bolt snugly. Lastly, tighten the oil pan to front cover bolts at 25 n.m (18 lb ft), tighten the engine front cover bolts at 25 n.m (18 lb ft), remove the j41476, connect the engine harness electrical connector back to cmp sensor wire harness, replace a new crankshaft front oil seal and install the Water Pump.
