How to replace the parking brake backing plate on Cadillac SRX?

The first step to replace the parking Brake Backing Plate starts with vehicle elevation and tire and wheel removal from the rear area. You must eliminate the rear Wheel Hub together with the bearing assembly so you can turn the park brake adjuster nut to reach its bolt-closed state. The technician must first remove the park brake shoe hold down spring followed by the shoe assembly by taking hold of the shoe while spreading it slightly while pulling it away from the actuator assembly. Take off the backing plate from the knuckle after disassembling the two park brake cable bracket to knuckle mounting bolts and the dust cover. A flat bladed tool resolves the actuator retaining tab to move outward while extracting the actuator from the backing plate. Install the actuator toward the backing plate while moving the retaining tab outward and place the backing plate onto the knuckle. Attach the two park brake cable bracket to knuckle mounting bolts before torquing them to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.). To install the park brake shoe assembly start by grasping the shoe then spreading it slightly before pulling it over the actuator assembly and finally install the park brake shoe hold down spring. Proceed with these steps: adjust the park brake and install the rear Wheel Hub along with the bearing assembly and complete with the rear tire and wheel assembly, until you lower the vehicle.
