The replacement procedure for a heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) bank 1 sensor 1 begins only after the engine reaches a temperature of 48°c (120°F) due to easier sensor removal capabilities. A sensor which has been previously used requires application of anti-seize compound p/n 5613695 or its equivalent on its threaded surface since new sensors arrive with built-in coating. Start by lifting the vehicle for support and unplug the electrical wire of the forward Oxygen Sensor. Pull the forward Oxygen Sensor out from its position in the Exhaust Manifold. To install the sensor use the Exhaust Manifold as placement and apply 41 n.m (30 lb ft) of torque force during tightening. To complete the procedure reconnect the Oxygen Sensor connector and then lower the vehicle.
